Hurricane Irma , a category 5 storm , has devastated the Caribbean with 185mph winds sustained for 30 hours. The storm has taken six lives and it has already registered itself as the worst ever storm to have originated from the Atlantic ocean. It is also the strongest tropical cyclone so far in 2017.
Irma has already caused damage in Barbuda, St. Barthelemy, St Martin, Anguilla and Virgin Islands and is expected to make a landfall in Florida. A state of emergency has already been declared in Florida, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico as the administration prepares to battle the extremely powerful storm.
Hurricane Irma will test the US administration’s ability shortly after the catastrophe caused by Hurricane Harvey. Evacuation orders have already been issues for key areas and most residents have begin evacuation.
We leave you with some coverage of the hurricane and we will keep updating this post as it makes a landfall in Florida.
